VSynth(s) Featured: Kasane Teto (with Hatsune Miku as backing in 'Reckless Abandon')
Reccer's notes: Decoyman1200 is a producer who dares to ask: what if Teto was just some dude from the American Midwest on the early internet? In addition to the masculine (and "naturalized," for lack of a better word - photo!Teto has brown hair and photo!Miku's cyan hair is a dye job with black roots showing in "Reckless Abandon", and Teto's website gif avatar in "Watchacallitsname" is a redhead with freckles and green eyes) presentation in the PVs, this producer tunes Teto's voice lower than most.
(On a song specific note, Reckless Abandon's lyrics are describing a textbook bipolar manic episode.)
I did find a Japanese commenter asking for a translation of the lyrics to "Reckless Abandon" so they can sing along. If anyone knows how to translate between English and Japanese, it might be nice to lend them a hand.

Date: 2026-02-02 07:48 pm (UTC)I have also noticed decoyman’s teto being more masculine, even gendered as he/him and called “Sir”, in their talkloid (which I discovered them from). It gets the idea of “grubby teenage boy hanging out with his friends after school” across shockingly well.

Date: 2026-02-02 09:10 pm (UTC)It is, isn't it? The channel currently only has two other videos (a talkloid and a Teto+Gumi cover of "Wonderful Christmastime"), but I hope to see more original songs by this producer in the future.
I think it's really funny how the actual, original Miku and Teto are briefly snuck in one bit amidst all the parody designs - after all, they're not the "real" Miku and Teto in the context of the PV, and thus are treated as just another memetic fragment of the era's pop culture and internet culture.

Date: 2026-02-13 03:51 am (UTC)Oh yea! I didn't link the talkloid, but I did notice that Teto is explicitly he/him there.
Decoyman goes farther with the premise than most, but I do feel like there's been an uptick in... for lack of a better term, dude-coded Teto depictions, since Teto's SV release? Where it is Teto, and not the Kasane Ted fanloid character, but some aspect of her dress and in-PV persona reads as masculine. I kind of talked about it in an older post of mine, though not in detail. I have also seen one song, HAPPY GAME, where Teto seems more Ted-like visually (no twindrills, ponytail) while still being identified as "Teto."
