Reccer's notes: In LOVE with the way Teto is tuned here. It's unmistakeably her, yet her tone is a lot darker and more mature than usual Teto. The auto-tuney effects kinda remind me of Hachioji-P's Miku tuning as well. Also love the arrangement from PalmMute accompanying this track.

Reccer’s Note: I think I'm going to like MiliSen a lot. I've seen a few of her videos, and she brings a very different sensibility to the table than most vsynth producers. For this song creator's notes discuss how she was inspired by opera and orchestra, and similar notes on other videos talk about other influences on her work. Tale of the Snow Queen brings to mind literary fairy tales and classical musical theatre (or, if you're less classy like me, Disney renaissance musicals). I don't listen to enough Eleanor Forte. I should fix that.

Reccer's notes: Decoyman1200 is a producer who dares to ask: what if Teto was just some dude from the American Midwest on the early internet? In addition to the masculine (and "naturalized," for lack of a better word - photo!Teto has brown hair and photo!Miku's cyan hair is a dye job with black roots showing in "Reckless Abandon", and Teto's website gif avatar in "Watchacallitsname" is a redhead with freckles and green eyes) presentation in the PVs, this producer tunes Teto's voice lower than most.

(On a song specific note, Reckless Abandon's lyrics are describing a textbook bipolar manic episode.)

I did find a Japanese commenter asking for a translation of the lyrics to "Reckless Abandon" so they can sing along. If anyone knows how to translate between English and Japanese, it might be nice to lend them a hand.

Reccer's notes: This is an extremely post-Mesmerizer take on Neru, I think. (Yes, Neru literally wasn't in Mesmerizer, but the Anglosphere-originated meme of Neru secretly being the sinister mastermind behind the events of that song's MV very much did go viral in the Japanese side of vocal synth fandom too.) Neru is presented here as a sinister film director carefully crafting a false reality for her own amusement. The "false reality" here, however, is likely more metaphorical than literal, compared to the "yellow one behind it all" fanon that accumulated onto Mesmerizer.

I'd like to add some commentary from a youtube comment by an account named CursedWithAGift, since those get buried so easily and this comment points out interesting details in the MV. It's long, so I'm placing it under a cut.

Reccer's notes: Probably one of the more sinister takes on virtual idol character as literal AI/Robot! Several commenters note that the "cult leader" character Teto plays is probably a LLM - albiet one that has, within the fiction of the song, possibly achieved true sapience. (Has it literally taken over a physical body, or is this just how metaphorically conceptualizes its relationship to humans? People using the LLM as a "confession booth" or life advisor, becoming emotionally dependent on it.) Examine elements like the back wall of the church being a circuitboard, the conversations resembling ChatGTP conversations, the four pointed star imagery looking like the logo for Google Gemini, and recurring concepts in the lyrics themselves. Considering how common "megalomaniac AI" has been as a trope in sci-fi for decades now, I'm surprised it took the current "AI" bubble for me to see a vocal synth character portrayed as one.

I'm curious about other people's interpretations of the song and MV!

Reccer’s Note: I love the post-Synth V trend of Teto songs about her drowning in a web of her own lies, or struggling to maintain a social facade. Whether that facade be her actively chasing popularity at the expense of her own well being, or socially masking an deep mental and emotional unwellness to maintain the bare minimum to function as a Productive Cog in Society, the songs written for her about this kind of social suffocation/drowning are something I could easily listen to an entire playlist for. This one's harder to find on premade playlists than songs like "Rot for Clout" or "Liar Dancer" are, so I figured I might as well share it with people. The music video for this one isn't super fancy or crazy, but it's pretty fun - I like the way that vector puppet animation is utilized here.

Also, there are English subtitles in the official upload, though I'm curious if anyone fluent in Japanese has anything to input about translation choices made.

Reccer’s Note: I ran into this song like, the day before yesterday and it instantly became an earworm and I can't stop listening to it! The MV also has a cool aesthetic, it's got references to some other vsynth songs, and the producer got a lot of artists to participate in it! And though this uses SynthV Teto for a vast majority of it, I'm pretty sure it uses UTAU Teto in one part too which was a really cool touch! Overall a really awesome job from everyone involved! I had never heard of the song this is a tribute to ('Song of the Eared Robot') before, so it also introduced me to a pretty neat older song!
